Warranty Terms
Every Pool Lights Direct light is resin filled, pressure and vacuum tested, and built to outlast the lights it replaces. We back that with a class leading 2 year warranty on every light, plus an optional Lifetime Warranty upgrade for customers who want permanent peace of mind.
The short version
- Every light: 2 year warranty, included free.
- Optional Lifetime Warranty: $30 per light, covers the light and its cable for as long as you own it.
- To file a claim, text or email a photo of the defect with your order number.
- We ship the replacement at no cost. You do not need to send the old light back.
- No registration needed. Your order confirmation is your proof of coverage.
Standard 2 Year Warranty
Every light we sell includes a 2 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, starting on the date your order is delivered. Most original equipment pool lights carry similar or shorter coverage at several times the price. Our standard warranty reflects how confident we are in the build quality: resin filled construction with no internal air pockets, a sealed cable, and testing under pressure, vacuum, and temperature before every light ships.
Lifetime Warranty Upgrade
The Lifetime Warranty extends coverage on a light and its cable for as long as you, the original purchaser, own the pool it is installed in. It costs $30 per light and is added at checkout.
- One upgrade per light. If you order four lights and want all four covered, add four Lifetime Warranty upgrades.
- Forgot to add it? You can add the Lifetime Warranty up to 30 days after your order is delivered. Contact us with your order number and we will send you a link to add it.
- Same claim process. Lifetime claims work exactly like 2 year claims, described below.
Is the Lifetime Warranty worth it?
Our standard 2 year warranty is already class leading, and our lights are built to last well beyond it. Many customers add the Lifetime Warranty anyway because they have replaced the same original lights two or three times and want to be done worrying about it for good. For $30 per light, it is simple, lasting peace of mind.
What the Warranty Covers
Both the 2 year and Lifetime warranties cover failures caused by a defect in the light or its attached cable under normal use, including:
- The light will not turn on
- The light turns dim or loses brightness
- One or more colors stop working, or the light is stuck on one color
- Water inside the light
- A failure of the factory sealed cable or cable connection at the light body
Covered failures are resolved with a replacement light of the same model, or the closest current equivalent if that model has been updated or discontinued.
What the Warranty Does Not Cover
- Labor and installation costs. We send you a replacement light at no cost. Removal, installation, electrician, or pool technician charges are not covered.
- Installation and wiring damage. Damage from connecting the light to the wrong voltage, cutting, splicing, or shortening the cable, a damaged or pinched cable from pulling through conduit, or a cracked lens from installation.
- Running the light out of water. Pool lights are cooled by the water around them. Running a light for extended periods while it is not submerged is not covered.
- Electrical events and acts of nature. Lightning, power surges, flooding, fire, freezing, and similar events outside the light itself.
- Modifications. Any alteration to the light body, lens, or cable, except modifications we specifically describe in our own published installation guides, performed as described.
- Mixing with other brands on one circuit. Color sync or sequencing issues from running our lights on the same circuit as original manufacturer lights. Our lights should not be mixed with original lights on one circuit.
- Incompatible equipment. Problems caused by a transformer, controller, or automation system that does not match the light you ordered.
- Cosmetic wear. Scratches, discoloration, or staining from pool chemicals or normal wear that do not affect how the light works.
How to File a Warranty Claim
- Take a photo or short video of the problem. Show the light turned on (or not turning on), the stuck color, dimming, or water inside.
- Send it to us with your order number. Text it to 239-350-3110, or email it to info@poollightsdirect.com. Replying to your order confirmation email works too.
- We review it. Most claims are approved from the photo alone. We may ask a quick question about your voltage, controller, or installation to make sure the replacement solves the problem.
- We ship your replacement at no cost. Shipping on the replacement is on us, and you will receive tracking by email.
Do I need to send the old light back? No. Once your claim is approved, you keep or dispose of the failed light. No return shipping, no waiting for us to receive it.
Warranty Terms
- No registration required. Your order confirmation and order number are all you need. Keep your confirmation email handy.
- Not transferable. Both warranties cover the original purchaser only and do not transfer to a new owner if the property is sold.
- Per light coverage. Warranty coverage applies to each light individually. The Lifetime Warranty applies only to the lights it was purchased for.
- Replacement claims. Our lights are engineered and tested so that a warranty claim should be rare. Each claim is reviewed individually, and we may ask for additional photos or installation details before approving a replacement.
- Proof of purchase. Coverage applies to lights purchased directly from Pool Lights Direct or an authorized Pool Lights Direct installer.
- Remedy. Replacement of the defective light is the sole remedy under this warranty. Pool Lights Direct is not responsible for indirect or consequential costs, including labor, draining, or equipment damage.
Warranty vs. Returns
The warranty covers lights that fail. If a light does not fit or does not work with your system, that is handled as a return instead. Returns for fit or compatibility are accepted within 30 days of delivery, as long as the light has not been cut or damaged. Contact us and we will send a return label. Checking your voltage, niche or fitting size, and cable length before installing prevents most issues. Our team is happy to confirm compatibility before you order.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do your lights last?
Our lights went through two years of development, multiple design revisions, and accelerated life testing before launch. The resin filled design removes the internal air pockets that cause seams to flex and leak in many original lights, so every light is built to last far longer than the one it replaces. That confidence is why every light carries a class leading 2 year warranty, with Lifetime coverage available.
Do I need to register my light?
No. Your order confirmation is your proof of coverage, including any Lifetime Warranty upgrades on the order.
How do I redeem my warranty?
Text a photo or video of the defect with your order number to 239-350-3110, or email info@poollightsdirect.com. Once approved, we ship the replacement at no cost.
Can I add the Lifetime Warranty after I buy?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery. Contact us with your order number.
Is the warranty transferable?
No. Coverage stays with the original purchaser.
Does the warranty cover installation?
No. The warranty covers the light and its cable. Labor for removal or installation is not covered.
Do you cover lights bought somewhere else?
No. This warranty applies to lights purchased from Pool Lights Direct or an authorized Pool Lights Direct installer.
