Which Controllers Work With Our Pentair GloBrite Replacement? IntelliCenter, EasyTouch, AquaLink, OmniLogic, and a Light Switch

Our Pentair-programmed LED lights run the standard IntelliBrite 12 color program, which means they work with IntelliCenter, EasyTouch, IntelliTouch, Jandy AquaLink, Hayward OmniLogic, a plain wall switch, and more. Here is the full list and how to set each one up.

Pool Lights Direct Pentair GloBrite replacement LED pool light, compatible with IntelliCenter, EasyTouch, IntelliTouch and standard switches

The most common question we get before an order is some version of "will it work with my EasyTouch?" The answer is yes, and the list is longer than EasyTouch. Our GloBrite replacement, MicroBrite replacement, and our Pentair-programmed 6 inch and 10 inch niche lights are Pentair RGBW color lights that run the standard Pentair IntelliBrite 12 color program. That is the same program the original lights run, so anything that controls an IntelliBrite controls ours. This guide lists every controller we have confirmed, how to set each one up, and the one rule that applies to all of them.

Short version: there are three ways to run our Pentair RGBW lights. Any Pentair automation system (IntelliCenter, IntelliTouch, EasyTouch, IntelliConnect, SunTouch, or the standalone IntelliBrite Controller). A standard on/off toggle switch, which is how most GloBrite pools were built. Or add our Smart WiFi Transformer and Controller for app, voice, and remote control without buying an automation panel. Jandy and Hayward panels work too.

How IntelliBrite Color Control Actually Works

There is no data wire to a Pentair color light. The light has two conductors, 12V AC in and out, and the controller talks to it by interrupting that power. A quick off and on steps the light to the next color or show. Leaving it off for several seconds resets it back to the first program. That is the entire protocol, and it is why the compatibility list is so long: the controller does not need to know anything about the light, it only needs to be able to pulse the power.

Because our lights run the identical program, they respond to those pulses exactly the same way. Step by step, the sequence is:

Position Mode Position Mode
1 SAm (slow color roll) 7 Blue
2 Party (fast color roll) 8 Green
3 Romance (slow blue and magenta) 9 Red
4 Caribbean (blue, green, teal) 10 White
5 American (red, white, blue) 11 Magenta
6 Sunset (red, orange, magenta) 12 Hold (freezes the current color)

1. Any Pentair Automation System

Every current and recent Pentair panel has a built-in IntelliBrite light type. Assign the light circuit as IntelliBrite, and the panel handles the pulsing and shows you the 12 modes by name on the screen or in the app. If you already own one of these, nothing changes when you swap in our lights.

EasyTouch

Set the light circuit to IntelliBrite on either panel and pick modes by name from the screen or the app.

  • IntelliCenter. Set the light circuit to IntelliBrite under Settings, then pick colors and shows from the panel, the Pentair Home app, or the outdoor control panel. Supports grouping multiple lights.
  • IntelliTouch. Same IntelliBrite circuit type in the menu, with color selection from the indoor control panel, ScreenLogic, or the Pentair Link app.
  • EasyTouch (EasyTouch 4, 8, Lite, PL4, PSL4). IntelliBrite is a circuit function in the setup menu. Color changes from the panel buttons or ScreenLogic.
  • IntelliConnect. Assign the relay as a color light and control it from the Pentair Home app.
  • SunTouch. IntelliBrite circuit type supported on the 2 and 4 circuit models.
  • IntelliBrite Controller (600054). The standalone wall-mount unit for pools without a full automation system. It does nothing but pulse the light circuit, and it works exactly the same with our lights.

EasyTouch color sync: the same mode names, sync, and swim functions work with our lights because they run the same program.

Jandy and Hayward panels

You do not need a Pentair panel. Both competing systems include an IntelliBrite light type because so many pools have mixed equipment.

  • Jandy AquaLink RS and iAquaLink. In the light configuration, set the light type to Pentair IntelliBrite. The iAquaLink app then shows the same 12 modes by name.
  • Hayward OmniLogic, OmniHub, and OmniPL. Under the light setup, choose the Pentair IntelliBrite light type. Color and show selection work from the Omni panel and the Hayward OmniLogic app.
  • Hayward ProLogic. Configure the light relay as a color light. Modes are stepped through from the panel rather than selected by name.
💡 One thing to know about non-Pentair panels. Every system uses the same power-pulse method, so stepping and resetting work correctly. A few advanced functions on Jandy and Hayward panels (such as a "sync" command that cycles power in a specific pattern) were timed for the OEM light and may land on a different mode than the screen expects. If that happens, run the reset (off for about 10 seconds) and step again.

2. A Standard On/Off Toggle Switch

Most GloBrite pools were built without a control panel, and the lights were wired to a plain wall switch. That still works with ours, and it is the simplest setup there is.

  • Standard wall switch. Flip off and on quickly to step to the next mode. Hold off for 10 seconds to reset to SAm.
  • Timer (Intermatic or similar). On and off on a schedule. The light will come on in whichever mode it was last reset to, which is SAm after a long off period.
  • Smart switch or smart plug on the 120V side of your transformer (Kasa, Lutron, Leviton, and so on). Gives you app and voice on/off. You can step colors by toggling in the app, though it is clumsy.

3. Add Our Smart WiFi Transformer and Controller

Transformer, timer, and color controller in one IP65 box at the equipment pad.

If you are on a toggle switch and want app control without spending a few thousand dollars on an automation panel, our Smart WiFi Pool Light Transformer and Controller replaces your existing transformer and timer with one unit that already speaks IntelliBrite. Choose 100W, 150W, or 300W output to match your lights, then control them three ways:

Tuya smart app controlling Pentair RGBW LED pool lights through the Pool Lights Direct WiFi transformer

Tuya app: on, off, colors, schedules

Wireless remote included with the Pool Lights Direct smart pool light transformer

Included handheld remote

Alexa and Google Assistant work too: "turn on the pool lights."

It is built for our Pentair-programmed RGBW lights specifically, so the color modes line up with the app buttons and you never have to count pulses.

⚠️ The one rule for every controller. Do not mix our lights with original Pentair lights on the same circuit. Both run the same 12 modes, but the programs advance at slightly different speeds, so a mixed set drifts out of sync within a few minutes. Replace all the lights on a circuit at once and they stay locked together no matter which controller is pulsing them.
